Bob Lark is recognized nationally and internationally as an exceptional contemporary jazz performer and educator.  

A trumpet and flugelhorn player noted for his lyrical style and fine tone, Bob Lark is
 a professor of jazz studies at DePaul University, where he directs the university‘s Jazz Ensemble and The Phil Woods Ensemble and teaches jazz trumpet and courses in jazz pedagogy, jazz history, and jazz style. Under his direction the DePaul Jazz Ensemble has earned several Outstanding Performance Awards from the Jazz Educators Journal, Down Beat, and Jazz Times and has recorded albums with legendary jazz artists Phil Woods, Clark Terry, Louie Bellson, Bob Brookmeyer, Jim McNeely, Jeff Hamilton, Slide Hampton, Tom Harrell, Ira Sullivan, Bobby Shew, Mark Colby, and Chicago Symphony Orchestra members Charles Vernon and John Bruce Yeh.  



The newest and coolest event at this year’s MLA Annual Convention, Night Out will feature live music, snacks, a cash bar, and plenty of space to listen, chat, or just relax. 

And you won‘t have to venture far! This year‘s Night Out will be held at the beautiful Rouge, located inside the Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park Hotel, making it easy to kick back, listen, and unwind after a busy day at the MLA Annual Convention.

Chicago is noted for its rich musical history and has long been home to some of the country‘s most vibrant and innovative jazz musicians.     

At the 2019 MLA Annual Convention you‘ll have a chance to enjoy some of that great Chicago jazz. The noted trumpet and flugelhorn player Bob Lark will perform at the first ever Night Out. Along with his talented ensemble, Lark will perform both new songs and old favorites. So buy a ticket today, and have a relaxing and fun Night Out without ever leaving the convention!

Ticket availability is limited. Ticket covers entry and light snacks. Drinks available at cash bar. Must be 21 years or older to purchase wine or alcohol. There will be two full sets of music.
